I have a database of over 10,000 individuals including virtually all American Riedesels born before 1980, large numbers of their ancestors, and many other related families from Wunderthausen. While I do not have source citations for every factoid as a professional genealogist might, I guarantee that the quality of the data is an order of magnitude better than the average submission to Ancestry.com. Bless ’em, but there are only a handful of us who know the German language and history well enough to make informed judgments about the mass quantity of “raw” genealogical data out there.
Among other things, I have access to multiple transcriptions from the original church records for Wunderthausen, have received (and contributed to) the Wittgenstein historical magazine for over 25 years, and have good connections to many researchers over there who have been immensely helpful.
Displaying family trees online is an imperfect art. I use the GED4WEB software to create the files available on this site. Unfortunately, it does not integrate with the WordPress platform used for the rest of this site. When you click on the following link, you will be taken to a separate area of the riedesel.org domain. You can readily navigate among those pages; they offer no direct link back to the main site but will open in a new tab. I’m sorry, but that’s the way it is.
Click here to access the genealogical data.
I’m also sorry that the GED4WEB pages don’t work as well in Firefox as they do in other browsers.
