The Social Security Index lists his date of birth as May 18, but the church record in Wunderthausen says May 22 (that is not a baptismal date). Arrived at Ellis Island with his father on September 14, 1893. They were on the ship "Lahn" out of Bremen. In 1940 he is listed as having only three years of education. Although Willi is usually a nickname for Wilhelm, the church record in Wunderthausen calls him "Chr. Willi" so I take that as his given name. However, his grave marker says Wilhelm.

Origins unknown, but became the tenant in Webers Haus, Diedenshausen. He lived his life during and in the aftermath of the destructive Thirty Years War. It is possible that he, or his parents, came from the village of Saßmanshausen (where Mannus Riedesel was later to build the impressive school/church that stands to this day).
