Catherine/Katherine was born in the house 'Kirchstumpfs/Am Kloster' in Wunderthausen where she would have received a few years of education. Arrived in New York on November 20, 1885 on the ship "Donau" out of Bremen when she was 14 years old. We do not know where she lived though her brother Henry Herman arrived two years earlier and settled in Kansas City, Missouri. On the same ship were two other young women from Wunderthausen: Catherine Lache (Schusters) and Dina Homrighausen (Schäfers). A 'Kate Riedesel' is listed as a cook in an 1892 Kansas City, Missouri, directory and this is most likely her.

She and her husband lived in various places in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Born in Wunderthausen in "Auf der Leye" (later Kellers) Haus. He went to America around 1834. He lived in Jackson County, Missouri. He was a landowner of some means. He must have visited Germany then returned to America in 1841, as it almost certainly him on the ship Diana that year.

He is described as having been a big man in family records. Living with his brother, George, at the time of the 1860 Census and was apparently single then; occupation was that of a miner. He eventually became known as "Potts" as did his sons.
