The pictures in this category are organized in three groups:

• Freiherren/Barons zu Eisenbach. This is the best known branch of the family and only surviving line recognized as nobility. Their history is colorful but it is not “ours.”
• Riedesels zu Josbach, Vers, Camberg and Bellersheim. We American Riedesels almost certainly do have ancestors among these other lines of free knights. Times changed and this stratum no longer had much of a political or military role, so they slid into the ranks of the unfree peasantry here and there.
• Neumark/Weimar. An ennobled Riedesel living here in the 1500s has gained some attention–but not all agree that he was born a Riedesel.
